Beautiful Hikes and Lovely Art
September is a stunning time of year for a hike with the turning leaves, the crisp air, and the brisk weather. Trails and Vistas Art hikes take an ordinary hike and pump it up into one of the most unique art events in Lake Tahoe.
Two Art Hikes are scheduled for 2016: Saturday September 10 and Sunday September 18. Artists, musicians, and dancers from all over the world take positions along the hike and share their talents. The September 10 hike begins in the Spooner Lake State Park at the base camp of the North Canyon Trail. The September 18 hike is on the Donner Ski Ranch, beginning at the New Trail on Donner Summit.
While enjoying the views, imagine an aspen tree covered with mud art and handprints. Or an acrobat high in a tree performing her moves. Modern dancers performing interpretative dance in the meadows. Costumed figures moving among the trees. Flute players with their haunting songs echoing within the hills… All this will be waiting for you, and more!
Tickets and hike schedules are available online. Children are $12 for ages 5-12, and adults/teens are $35. Due to the many events along the hike, several hikes are scheduled each day with a maximum of 22 participants per hike. All hikers should be able to handle a three-mile hike at higher altitudes.
Last minute updates can be found on the Trails and Vistas Facebook page.
