2018 Castle Peak 100k
Ready for an amazing point-to-point endurance run? The Castle Peak 100k is exactly what you’ve been dreaming about! This 100k run begins Saturday, August 18 at 5am at the Prosser Family Campground, and finishes at 3am at Sugar Bowl Resort. Produced by the Donner Party Mountain Runners, a non-profit local running group, this challenging run celebrates the spirit of the early California settlers who faced their challenges head-on.
Required gear: 34oz water, 200 calories of food, rain gear or emergency safety blanket, hat, light, visible bib number. Cell phones are recommended. Drop bags will be transported to Johnson Canyon. Runners will climb and descend nearly 15,000 feet at an average elevation of 7,300 feet and includes a 1.25 mile section of scrambling that is not recommended for those with a fear of heights. A map is available for previewing.
You must have completed a 50k trail run prior to registration. Finishers receive a custom made belt and 5 points towards Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® qualification.
Registration is available online for $165, and as of this writing, only 27 spots were still available. Shuttle service from race finish back to the race start is free. Donner Party Mountain Runners produces this event, while Saloman is the main sponsor.
