As Winter starts to roll towards Spring, the folks at Tahoe Donner have some special events to put bounce in your day!
There are three snowplay events scheduled in March: A snowman-building contest March 3 at 2pm, a day of human-size snow tube bowling on March 17 between noon and 2pm, and Friday night snow tubing on the 2nd at 6:30.
For skiers who love downhill fun, the last public downhill race of the season will happen on March 6. Prizes are awarded, and there’s a chance one can get their name engraved on a plaque in the ski lodge. There will be a winter beach party on the 10th, and dog lovers can watch dogsled races the next day on the 11th. On March 17 there will be a 200 foot long banana split created at the Downhill Ski Area- bring a spoon and eat for free! The on March 25th is the Tahoe Donner Family Challenge, a Giant Slalom competition raced by family teams.
Cross country events includes the Sierra Skogsloppet Citizens Fundraiser Race on March 11. Try yummy treats from Truckee area chefs- admission also includes your full day ski pass. Two weeks later the Tour D’Euer happens; ski through the D’Euer valley with live music and a BBQ at the cross country center afterwards.
