Another accolade happened last November when they also got recognition for being the most ‘senior-friendly ski resort in California’ by offering discounted and free rates and lift tickets for seniors ages 60 and older.
Located in Truckee, CA, Tahoe Donner is a cozy resort with four lifts and 120 skiable acres that are patrolled. There are over a dozen cross country trails that cover 100 kilometers. Elevation ranges from 7650’ to 7350’ This resort is run by the Tahoe Donner Association, a sizable homeowner’s association that represents over 5800 households in a 7000 acre area. Season passes and membership costs are reasonable.
Skiers enjoy relaxing in the sauna and hot tubs after a day on the slopes. Off-season residents enjoy the golf course, beach and marina. Many people use the Trout Creek Recreation Center. Diners head to The Lodge Restaurant & Pub whereas more casual dinners can be found at Pizza on the Hill.
New this year is the Alder Creek Adventure Center– offering dining, relaxation, streamlined ski rentals, shopping, and entertainment. Family-friendly, Tahoe Donner offers ski lessons to children as young as three years old. Upcoming events include a Family Glowstick Parade and Festival in late February and a Dogsled Race in March.
