Inside Skier- Soda Springs Mountain Resort Offers Long-Term Tradition and Fun
The family-friendly Soda Springs Mountain Resort has been catering to skiers since 1935, and they welcome people who want to spend time in the snowy outdoors. Located near the Donner Summit, there are 200 skiable acres with elevation ranging from 6750 to 7300 feet. There are two chair lifts with three moving carpet lifts. Rates are affordable and beginners will love the easier slopes. Thirteen trails are available for skiing and snowboarding.
Two areas have a special focus: children and snow tubing. The premier Tube Town offers 20 lanes for tubing, with a 400 foot surface lift to return you to the top. Planet Kids is an adventurous snow playground for kids of all ages. There are tubing lanes and carousals, snow volcanos, snowman building and snow angel making, and convenient snow sports lessons.
Should you want to make Soda Springs or the close by Sugar Bowl a regular ski area, there are many options for cabins and houses within a very close proximity. The areas of Soda Springs, Serene Lakes and Pla-Vada have properties beginning the low $300,000 range. There are OHV (off road highway vehicle) trails where many like to snowmobile. Cross Country skiing in the forest is another great winter adventure and in summer, an abundance of hiking and biking. Castlepeak is an area favorite as are the Azalea and Flora Lakes. Nothing like owning a property in the highest of elevations!
