Firecracker, Firecracker… Boom, Tahoe, Boom!
July 4 is promising to be a fantastic holiday in North Lake Tahoe! Apart from the ongoing list of activities, the ‘firecracker’ fun is going on all day beginning with the Firecracker Mile and ending with multiple fireworks shows.
North Lake Tahoe July 4th Runs
The Firecracker Mile race is happening on the 4th starting at 8am just before the parade. The run is along the same path as the parade, down Donner Pass from US Bank to the Train Station, and you’ll get to be cheered by thousands of parade spectators! There are two ways to register: go to Tahoe Mountain Sports between July 1st and 3rd at 4pm, or do it all online with a credit card.
Teens and tots 18 and under need a waiver form completed for registration. There are two runs: the first is the Elite Run for serious runners, and the second wave for the bulk of runners while the third wave is for the family Fun Run. Those with strollers are asked to participate in the third wave. Arrive by 9:15am and remember the roads are closed off by 8:30, so allow plenty of time. Entry costs range from $15 to $40 per person.
The Firecracker Mile is a fund-raiser for the Auburn Ski Club, supporting their Youth and Junior programs.
