Pack up your cycle and roll on out to the Sierra Valley June 20 for the Tour de Manure, beginning at the Sierraville Volunteer Firehouse between 8 and 9 AM. You’ll enjoy miles of meadows and ranching communities on a fine summer day! Follow the headwaters of the Feather River. Bird watchers will love the hawks, yellow-headed black birds, and sand hill cranes along the trail. Everyone will appreciate the numerous cattle out in the fields, gamely watching the bikers flying by.
There are three routes: two 62 and 42 circular mile loops, and a 30 mile out-and-back route. Adult registration is $60 before June 12 and $70 after. Children’s registration is $30. Proceeds benefit the Sierraville Volunteer Fire and Rescue. You can register online or by mail. There are several lodging options available.
Plan to have a good time! Registrants will receive pre-race yodeling and guitar tunes, a T-shirt, rest stop food and drink, and an after party featuring live music and great BBQ. Purchase a customized event cycling jersey as a personal memento.
