Today (Jan the Tahoe Truckee Dining for Schools cards are valid for the restaurants offering an extended period. For those of you who don’t know about this great deal, $45 buys you a card that gets you 50% your entree most Sundays -Thursdays for certain time periods at lots of local restaurants. Truckee Tree Lighting and Holiday Festival

Truckee Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting – on Friday Dec 2 at the train depot. Enjoy music, Christmas carols, refreshments, and holiday shopping specials. Elementary school children will decorate the trees down town with homemade ornaments. For a small donation to the American Cancer Society and its Love Lights a Tree program, you may hang an ornament in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of loved ones lost to the disease. Festivities begin at 4:00 pm, with Santa arriving at 4:30 and the Bud Fish Tree lighting Ceremony is at 5:30.

Tahoe City’s 7th annual Harvest Festival begins Saturday, October 8th and runs through Saturday, October 22nd. Events include a costume fun run, carnival, live music, pumpkin painting and more. Tahoe City Harvest Festival

News Flash – Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows announced yesterday that they will combine under common ownership and offer a single pass that includes both ski resorts for the 2011/2012 season. Now everyone is waiting to see whether White Wolf – the land parcel owned by Troy Caldwell between the two resorts – might come into the mix to ultimately create a mega resort of over 6000 acres.

Stay tuned and start thinking snowy thoughts. Or just enjoy the fabulous Indian Summer we have been experiencing the past few weeks. 81 degrees right now and gorgeous.
